Studying with North and South Koreans in Dandong

[ECNK Webinar] Studying with North and South Koreans in Dandong

ABOUT THE WEBINAR

What is it like to study together with South and North Koreans in the same classroom?

Hosted by the European Centre for North Korean Studies (ECNK), Stephen Finch's presentation is based on a diary he kept while studying Advanced Chinese Language at East Liaoning University alongside both North and South Korean students in Dandong, 2015-2016. This was a period of tense relations between China and the DPRK, which saw the delayed opening of the New Yalu River Bridge in Dandong, and the closure of the city's Korean War Museum.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Stephen Finch is a PhD candidate at the University of Leeds working on a new biography of Kim Il-sung, and editor of Sino-NK, a collaboration between the University of Leeds and Leiden University.
